The
Spectrum Building

 |
 |
| Spectrum
is a double-fronted Victorian building overlooking
Finsbury Park in the centre of an exciting cosmopolitan
community in north east London. |
 |
|
 |
We believe the building
in which psychotherapy and personal development work takes
place should be warm, safe and welcoming and offer a feeling
of hope. We make an effort to make our building and environment
provide these things. Clients and visitors are welcome
to wait and relax in our dining room where they can have
tea, coffee and a biscuit. Nearby we have some of the
best Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot restaurants in
London where you can eat for as little as under five pounds.
We purchased and refurbished the current Spectrum building
in 1989.
We designed it to fulfil several tasks. It consists of
small to large group rooms all of which can also be used
for one-to-one work, a training room, public rooms, and
administration offices. The house has many of the original
Victorian features including the marble fireplaces.
We have included some information about how we manage the house on a day to day basis and how you can participate to help you feel at home.

Visiting Spectrum
 |

 |
 |
 |
 |
To
enter Spectrum go to the rear of the building through
the car park, down some stairs and across a small
patio where you will find a buzzer system. |
 |
|
 |
When you arrive, please
press the buzzer for the person or group you are coming
to. You will have been given this number when you made
your booking or appointment. The practitioner will answer
the buzzer and press a button to let you into the dining
room which is just next to the entry phone.
Please wait in the dining room for your practitioner to come and get you for your appointment or group.

Waiting...
 |

 |
 |
 |
 |
| Our
dining room has many different functions: a waiting
room, a place to sit and think, a room for coffee
and tea breaks, a dining room for groups and the
entrance to Spectrum. |
 |
|
 |
This room is used
by both clients and practitioners and when you arrive
may be packed and humming with people engaged in any or
all of the above activities or it may be empty and quiet.
In either case, please feel free to make yourself a coffee
or tea and help yourself to a biscuit while you wait.
While you are in the building
we ask you to keep all food and drink in the dining room.
We also ask that you do not smoke inside the building.
If you wish to use the toilet, there are two toilets just opposite the dining room. The
doors are marked W.C. For security reasons, we ask that
only practitioners give people entry to the dining room.
In order to maintain a relaxed and peaceful environment
we ask that you switch off your mobile phones when in
the building.

The House
 |

 |
 |
 |
 |
| While
you are at Spectrum you will notice that some doors
are closed and others are open. When a door is closed
it means that the room is in use and people are
working there. Please respect this and do not knock
or open these doors. |
 |
|
 |
Once in a while,
you may hear loud sounds of anger, crying or banging while
you are at Spectrum. This is because we support people,
when it is appropriate for them, to air their feelings
of frustration, anger or rage. When a client and therapist
contract to work this way it is done within a safe structure
and nobody gets hurt.
One response that many people have to hearing anger or
grief expressed is to stop breathing and become tense.
We suggest you breathe, relax your muscles and appreciate
the fact that the person who is working is going to feel
better for having expressed these feelings.

Further
information |

 |

 |
There
are about 35 practitioners working at Spectrum.

to take a copy for yourself to read at your leisure
and learn more about us. You can also download
it online or request
it to be sent to you by post.
We hope you will find what you are looking for at
