Julia has a PhD for research she did in social anthropology in the French Caribbean.
She subsequently worked in adult and community education in London for 15 years, her last job being Vice-Principal of the City Lit adult education centre.
Her work experience includes writing, teaching, training, administration, middle and senior management.
She completed the Spectrum one year course in psychotherapy in 1986, the post-graduate course in 1989, and the PAIRS programme in 1990. In 1990 she joined the Spectrum/ Miami Gestalt Institute joint training programme which was completed in 1996.
She is a Spectrum and UKCP accredited psychotherapist, and has a psychotherapy and work counselling practice. She is also a management trainer, facilitator and consultant in the statutory and voluntary sectors, most of her work being in the NHS.
Julia has been a tutor on the Spectrum foundation course in counselling skills, is a member of the marathon team and is a staff member of the one year course in psychotherapy and the post-graduate course.
She became a Spectrum staff member in 1991, and Director of Spectrum Training in January 1997.
