A research workshop
Joan Fletcher and Anna Patterson
This is a three day workshop to introduce psychotherapists to the field of research. In it we will explore the contemporary debate about research and its relationship to practice, and the changes and trends in counselling and psychotherapy research over recent years.
Participants can expect to gain an overview of established techniques of research and inquiry and an introduction to newer methodologies which have developed in response to the complexities of the psychotherapeutic relationship. Participants will build on their ability to critically evaluate published work as well as critique their own practice and writing. We will work experientially and collaboratively to design and present a research proposal.
Participants will be asked to prepare for the course by reading introductory material and to explore issues between sessions.
Joan Fletcher is a lecturer in social work at Goldsmiths, University of London.
