Jane is a UKCP registered psychotherapist and has been a member of the Spectrum professional community since 1989. Jane founded The Terrace in Taunton, Somerset in 1994 where she runs a private counselling and psychotherapy practice for individuals, couples and groups, and offers professional supervision. Jane was an external examiner for Spectrum graduates and co-led the Spectrum one year course in psychotherapy as a guest leader in 2010/11. She is now a co-leader on some of the post-graduate continuation groups with Maggie McKenzie.
Jane became involved with humanistic psychology in the late 1980s through discovering a personal passion for the humanistic therapeutic work at Spectrum, so much so that she decided to train and make it her professional life. She had two previous careers: marketing in a large London advertising agency; and estate agency in Central London.
In addition to her private practice, in 1994 Jane founded The Terrace in Somerset which offers a wide range of psychotherapy and counselling for individuals, couples, families and children along with many complementary therapies.
Jane’s work is informed by humanistic psychotherapy with a particularly interest in Gestalt Therapy and Formative Psychology. Her focus is for people to learn more about themselves so they can influence and shape themselves and their lives, in a way which satisfies them.
Her group work encourages people to explore how they are in relationship with themselves and others in a group setting and her couples work seeks to build sustainable and respectful communication so a couple can grow and flourish, individually as well as collectively.
