Spectrum Practitioner

Helena trained at Spectrum and is a member of the BACP and the UKAHPP. She has a private practice working with individuals and couples at Spectrum and in South London.

Helena grew up in London with parents from Sweden and Mauritius.  After getting a degree in African and Asian studies Helena trained as a further education teacher and then worked as a college and university lecturer, social policy researcher and community environmentalist. Helena first came to Spectrum for her own personal development in 1996. She started training in Humanistic Psychology at Spectrum in 2000 and has been working as a psychotherapist since setting up her practice in 2008.

How Helena works

Helena believes that the most significant relationship each of us has is the relationship we have with our self. Therapy offers us an opportunity to learn more about who we are and develop new ways to manage situations and relationships we find challenging.

As an integrative humanistic psychotherapist Helena draws on a wide range of theoretical approaches and techniques in her work with a focus on Formative Psychology and Gestalt Psychology.  She has a particular interest in working with dreams, as a potentially powerful way to deepen our relationship with ourselves.

Helena’s other specialisms include working with couples, parenting (including lesbian and gay parenting), issues around race and cultural identity, anger, relationships, conflict and long-term illness.
