Samina Baig

Spectrum Practitioner

Samina is a humanistic psychotherapist working with individuals. She first came to Spectrum for her own personal development work in 2003 and went on to train professionally with the organisation. She has worked in private practice since 2014 and joined Spectrum as a practitioner in 2018. She is a member of the BACP.

How Samina works

Samina’s theoretical framework draws upon formative psychology, gestalt therapy, and transactional analysis. She offers clients a confidential, down-to-earth and empathic therapeutic relationship as she works with them towards greater self-awareness. Through this exploration, habits and behaviours that no longer work or satisfy are challenged, managed and potentially changed giving clients more choice in how they want to live. As well as talking therapy, Samina uses drawing, writing and role play techniques to facilitate self-expression, and to provide clients with a deeper understanding and experience of themselves.

After studying social psychology at university, Samina trained as a journalist and moved into television production for both the BBC and Channel 4 making current affairs programmes and documentaries.  Passionate about telling human stories, Samina then moved into scriptwriting. She has written plays for Radio 4 and several episodes of popular television soaps.
With a strong interest in the workings of character and human potential, it seemed a natural step for Samina to train as a psychotherapist. Her aim is to work with clients as a therapeutic ally in support of their self-exploration, awareness, and desire for fulfilment.
